Statewide Revival, Part 2

March 28-April 8, 2016

Sister Shelton was able to visit 8 of our churches in the month of January and was a wonderful blessing everywhere she went. She and her family returned in March-April to visit the remaining 8 churches in Alabama to conclude our Statewide Revival! We thank the Lord for the wonderful spirit of worship, the anointed singing and preaching, and the blessed times of prayer experienced in the state during this special time. The local churches at Bayou La Batre, Phenix City, Goodwater, Anniston, Collinsville, Geraldine, and West Lawrence were blessed to host this second and final installment of the Revival. Sister Shelton was a true blessing everywhere she went and we pray God will continue to bless her, her ministry, and her family. Special thanks to the state of Alabama for the generous giving, support, and love given to the Shelton family.

New Field Tent Revival

March 21-26, 2016

Sister Mary Shelton brought her tent and her family to minister in Eclectic, Alabama, in hopes of reaching some new contacts for The Church of God in an event organized by the Goodwater church. The revival was a great blessing to all of our Church folks who were able to take part, as well as the visitors who attended. The speakers broadcasted the preaching and singing to all in the nearby community and there were many who never entered the tent but stopped outside to listen. We pray that many souls were touched and that seeds were planted that will come to fruition in the weeks and months to come.

Men’s Retreat

District #1 Convention

Moulton, Alabama – February 27, 2016

The District #1 Convention was held in Moulton, Alabama, February 27, 2016. District Overseer, Guye Sutton, moderated the Convention with the theme, “Exhorting One Another; Provoking One Another,” taken from Hebrews 3:12, 13; 10:24, 25. There was a good spirit throughout the Convention and we were especially blessed to have a good Spanish delegation from our newly established church in Athens. Sister Liz Denard (Moulton, AL) and Brother Luis Banuelos (Trion, GA) interpreted for our first bilingual Convention in the state of Alabama. Boosts were presented by all of our auxiliary leaders, as were reports and boosts for all of our camps and retreats. Brother Horne presented our pastor from Athens, Brother Membreno, with his lay minister’s certificate, then preached a short sermon on baptismal before baptizing him as well. Brother Banuelos preached a message in the afternoon session, which was a great blessing to the Convention. Praise the Lord for what he is doing in District #1 and throughout the state of Alabama!

District #3 Convention

Phenix City, Alabama – February 13, 2016

The District #3 Convention includes the churches in Alex City, Bayou La Batre, Bessemer, Goodwater, and Phenix City. The Convention was held in Phenix City and moderated by District Overseer Ted Cogburn. The theme of this Convention was “So Ought We To Be” and included messages by district pastors Randolph Gillens, Brian O’Dell, Brandon Keel, and Ted Cogburn, as well as Steve Ridlespurge and State Overseer James Horne. We thank the Lord for the presence of the Lord at this Convention and thank each one who attended or served on program, as well as the good folks in Phenix City for hosting this event and working hard to prepare a wonderful meal for the attendees.

New Church Set In Order

Athens, Alabama – January 23, 2016

We are thrilled to announce that The Church of God has been set in order in Athens, Alabama! A special service was held there on January 23, 2016, to dedicate the building they’ve worked hard to prepare for services, receive three new members in to the Church, set a lay minister forth, and have a baby dedication. Special thanks to Brother Carlos Hernandez, Idaho, and Brother Luis Banuelos, Georgia, for all of their efforts and assistance in ministering to and preparing the saints there to join themselves to God’s Church. Also, special things to Sister Liz Anders who has been instrumental in interpreting and keeping in touch with them, as well as all of our members who have supported the services in Athens. This new Spanish church will be a wonderful blessing to the state of Alabama and we look forward to working, fellowshipping, and worshipping with these dear saints as we all pull together in God’s Church!
