The Stars of the Church

“Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks” (Rev. 2:1). “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” (Eph. 4:11). In Galatians the fifth chapter we learn of the fruit of the spirit. In Ephesians the fourth chapter we learn the purpose of the ministry gifts given to the Church. There is a lot that the scripture details in these verses that we need to understand, however, I want to bring out the stars of the Church.

The angel said, “he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand.” This should make one realize how important the pastor is to Christ and His Church. Too often pastors are not accepted with open arms when they accept an appointment to pastor a local church. Most are volunteers, willing to sacrifice whatever must be to fulfill their God-given gifts. Often members of their congregations are absent from church services for various reasons, but the pastor is always present for every service, unless there are severe circumstances that cause him to be absent.pastor is continually thinking, praying, and fasting for the people they shepherd. If a member suffers, the pastor suffers, if a member rejoices, the pastor rejoices, if a member mourns, the pastor mourns. In return the pastor receives complaint, back biting and criticism—not from everyone, of course—but from some looking for a perfect pastor who fits their mold.

As we are in the last days, we must become as little children. If you are unhappy with the “Star” that has been appointed to your local church look from inside of your heart to see the “Star” that Jesus holds in his right hand.
